Welcome to Dr Gihan Gunawardena Medical Practice.

Dr. Gihan Gunawardena graduated from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, in 2001.

Dr. Gunawardena has practised for the previous 23 years in general practice, with particular interest in obstetrics and women's health, acute medical care, and chronic disease management.

Dr. Gunawardena works with allied health and medical practitioners and values communication and ethical practice in patient care.

In addition to his role as a part-time GP, Dr. Gunawardena serves as a Senior Medical Officer for QLD Health and a Senior Lecturer for the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland.

His work in general practice, hospital settings, and academia informs his approach to patient care. His non-medical interests include science and technology, energy, and innovation.
